Warner Brothers Announces Comic Con Panels
June 25, 2009 by Cynthia
Warner Brothers Television has more than their share of genre shows this year, so they’ll be hitting Comic Con with eleven panels! They’re offering up some great previews, great guests — but so far there are two VERY noticeable names missing from this list — Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. According to the press release, Misha Collins and Jim Beaver will be representing Supernatural. Not that we don’t love those guys, but seeing as this might be their final year at the con, I can’t believe we won’t be seeing the two leads.
Now, before anyone gets violent, schedules do change and it’s possible that the boys might end up as last minute additions. That certainly was the case the past few years where the panel roster changed up to minutes before it was scheduled to begin. So keep your fingers crossed for Winchesters at Comic Con this year.
To keep up with the changes, subcribe to the Warner Brothers Twitter @TheWBdotcom and look for their Con-related website at TheWB.com/ComicCon, coming in July.
With that out of the way, here’s a rundown on all of the Warner Brothers panels and guests.
The Guests:
“The Big Bang Theory”: Johnny Galecki (”Roseanne”), Jim Parsons (”Garden State”), Kaley Cuoco (”Charmed”), executive producer Chuck Lorre (”Two and a Half Men”) and more
“Chuck”: Zachary Levi (upcoming “Alvin and the Chipmunks”), Yvonne Strahovski (upcoming “I Love You Too”), executive producer Josh Schwartz (”Gossip Girl”) and more
“Eastwick”: Rebecca Romijn (”X-Men”), Lindsay Price (”Lipstick Jungle”), Jaime Ray Newman (”Veronica Mars”) and more
“Fringe”: Anna Torv (”The Pacific”), Josh Jackson (”Shutter”), John Noble (”The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”) and more
Brian Austin Green Pays a Visit to Smallville
June 18, 2009 by Cynthia
TVGuide is reporting that sTerminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles star Brian Austin Green is heading over to Smallville. Green recently made the news when he was offered and turned down a role on The CW’s One Tree Hill, after his new series Body Politic was left off the fall schedule.
Sounds like he made the right move, because now he’s taking on the juicy role of Metallo in Smallville’s upcoming season. Click here to read the full story at TVGuide.com.

Brace Yourself for Impact
June 12, 2009 by Cynthia
Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Nope — I think that’s the moon hurtling toward the Earth. It’s all because of a pesky meteor shower that knocked the moon out of its orbit. (I hate when that happens.) Now. . .
“A small group of international astronauts, scientists and soldiers band together in a race against time to save humanity, in the thrilling limited ABC series “Impact,” airing SUNDAY, JUNE 21 and SUNDAY, JUNE 28 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET both nights), on the ABC Television Network.”
The movie stars David James Elliott, Natasha Henstridge, and James Cromwell, none of whom are in these photos. However, there are bonus points involved if you can identify the Supernatural recurring actor who is in one of these photos. (I’ll give you the answer at the end.)
V Goes to ABC
May 21, 2009 by Cynthia
With the rare exceptions such as Star Trek and The Day the Earth Stood Still, scifi TV shows and movies have taught us that all aliens have one purpose – to take over the Earth. But now The Visitors have arrived and they want to be our friends. They want to share their advanced technology with us. They want to give us the cure for cancer and all they want in return is a little water.
Yeah, right.
Stock the bomb shelters and get those bullshit detectors out of storage because come January 2010, The Visitors will have landed. It’s “V”, the reimagining of the 1980’s scifi series about pretty alien people with a very dark secret.
I got to watch a little bit of the series and now I’m even more excited to see this new show.
Vampire Diaries Gets Smallville’s Time Slot
May 20, 2009 by Cynthia
It’s not official until tomorrow, but The Hollywood Reporter is saying that The CW is going for Supernatural Thursdays by slotting the new Vampire Diaries in at 8:00 right before Supernatural at 9:00. Smallville will bump to Friday nights which might pair up nicely for viewers who want to switch over to Dollhouse at 9:00.
Vampire Diaries is already on my hot list as it stars Ian Somerhalder as one of two vampire brothers caught in a love triangle with a mortal girl. Wow, two sets of supernatural brothers on Thursday nights, i may need to keep a defibrillator beside my couch!

Smallville’s Cassidy Freeman Gives Destiny a Push
May 14, 2009 by Cynthia
It’s been a “TV year” since Cassidy Freeman joined Smallville as Tess Mercer, the new editor of the Daily Planet and foil for Clark Kent. But even after all this time, there are still quite a few mysteries surrounding this tough, no-nonsense lady. We know she has ties to Lex Luther (she’s living in his mansion, for heaven’s sake!) and we know she had a steamy romance with Oliver Queen and she seems to have a handle on Clark Kent. But the big question still remains — is Tess only out to save Tess, or is she secretly one of the good guys?
I went right to the source for the answer and here’s what Cassidy Freeman had to say.
Cyn: So, flat out, is Tess a good guy or a bad guy?
Cassidy: She’s a tricky one, isn’t she? It’s funny because people always ask; is she a hero or is she a villain, and I don’t think that she’s either. I think that she’s passionate; I think that she’s someone that’s driven by what she wants and how she feels. They did such a good job of making her quite ambiguous which makes her very frustrating, but it’s also fun to play.
Cyn: It’s interesting that you say she’s driven by how she feels, because there are times when it seems like she doesn’t feel anything! She’s one tough lady.
Cassidy: I think it’s really cool that they’ve got this hardcore woman that everyone thinks is supposed to be very hard-shelled, very business and actually all of her motives are born out of her emotion. She genuinely wants the best for Clark and I think that kind of tough love is her point. She wants him to be what he’s supposed to be and maybe not for him, maybe for herself, maybe for humanity, but she needs for that to happen. She’s willing to kill people to do it, obviously.
Cyn: We have seen a few glimpses of her softer side, particularly in her relationship to Oliver. Does Tess have an Achilles heel?
Tonight on The CW: Smallville and Supernatural
We’re heading for two huge season finales and both Supernatural and Smallville are stacking the deck with episodes about the true nature of evil. Are we born to be bad, or is it something we can control? Both Davis Bloome and Sam Winchester have done their best to keep their dark sides in check but are they simply postponing the inevitable?
First, at 8:00, it’s Smallville “Injustice.”
Chloe (Allison Mack) returns and begs Clark (Tom Welling) to kill Davis (Sam Witwer), claiming he can no longer keep the beast under control. Tess (Cassidy Freeman) has assembled a team of meteor freaks, including Plastique (guest star Jessica Parker Kennedy), to track down Davis so Clark can kill him. However, things get out of hand once Tess’ team discovers she is double-crossing them. Erica Durance, Aaron Ashmore and Justin Hartley also star. And hey, look! It’s Brendan Fletcher who played Max in “Nightmare” on Supernatural.

Next at 9:00 it’s Supernatural “When the Levee Breaks.”
Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Bobby (Jim Beaver) lock Sam (Jared Padalecki) in Bobby’s panic room so he can detox from the demon blood. However, as Bobby sees more seals are being broken he tells Dean they should let Sam out to help them fight the impending apocalypse. Dean disagrees and goes to Castiel (Misha Collins) for help. Sam and Dean have a big blowout confrontation. (Jared Padalecki as Sam. Photo: Michael Courtney/The CW©2009 The CW Network, LLC. All Rights Reserved.)
Can Davis be saved? Can Sam be saved? Sounds like it’s going to be a long, hard night for everyone including the good guys.
Heroes, Supernatural Among Most Pirated
You know, with each passing technological evolution the traditional Nielsen ratings get just a little more outdated. Former entertainment lawyer Eric Belloni writes a column about Hollywood and the law at The Hollywood Reporter.
This week he looks at the shows that got illegally file shared the most and NBC’s embattled drama Heroes tops the list with an estimated with 1.6 million downloads. The top 10 also includes SFUniverse faves Supernatural, Smallville and Fringe. Second on the list is now canceled Prison Break, which was also suffering from low ratings. That is to say, at least the way we’re calculating ratings these days.
I’ve said for years that I don’t think we really know what the majority of people are watching out there. For all we know, the highest rated show on TV could be Samantha Who.

Tonight on Smallville: Stiletto
April 23, 2009 by brian
Smallville is back tonight after a brief hiatus, and time Lois has a foolproof (yeah right) plan to lure out the infamous Red and Blue Blur. Lois will become a spandex-clad crimefighter named Stiletto. What could go wrong?
Well, in Metropolis any number of things could and most certainly will. Both in the comic and on TV, part of the reason Clark is so attracted to Lois is because she’s fearless. She’s doesn’t have superpowers and hasn’t ever needed them to break a story. Clark gets scoops with his superhuman abilities but knows he’s kind of cheating.
Lois will try anything, including wearing spandex and stilettos, to get the story. I tried wearing spandex to get a story once and it totally did not work. I’m guessing Lois will have better luck.

Smallville Returns April 23
April 9, 2009 by brian
It’s another couple of weeks off for the Boy Who Will Be The Man of Steel and The World’s Most Daring Reporter. Smallville returns with a new episode that sounds very Lois-centric.
In Stilletto, Lois will apparently get in touch with her super heroic side as a hero named, well, Stilletto. Yes, that’s right in this show’s continuity Lois Lane gets a superhero identity before Clark Kent does. That’s funny. Longtime Super-Romance fans will remember ABC’s Lois and Clark endowed Teri Hatcher’s Lois Lane with superpowers as Ultrawoman.
