In addition, there’s also a bunch of new content on the official site including a preview of the new movie soundtrack which will be available in stores today. If you live in the Los Angeles area, composer Michael Giacchino will be at the West Hollywood Best Buy signing copies of the new cd.

While walking the red carpet for the recent Star Trek premiere in Los Angeles, several of the guests couldn’t resist flashing the universal symbol for ‘I’m a geek!’. Live long and prosper fellow Trekkies, I’d make the sign with you but that makes it too hard to type.

Star Trek LA Premiere: The Old Guard
Last night, you didn’t need a telescope to look at the stars. All you needed was a walk down Hollywood Blvd. It was the Los Angeles premiere of the new Star Trek movie at Grauman’s Chinese and the red carpet was full of sci fi luminaries. Original Trek stars, new Trek stars and plenty of your favorites from other sci fi shows were on hand for the celebration. In case you haven’t heard, there’s a new Star Trek movie coming out and Entertainment Weekly has the whole scoop in their new issue.
“Oh, I feel the pressure,” says JJ Abrams. “In the eyes of a lot of fans, this is sacred material. Every shot, I’m wondering if this is where I’m going to f— it all up.”

Star Trek the Movies New on DVD

More Trek! On May 12, Paramount Pictures is releasing a mammoth box set of Star Trek movies on Blu-Ray along with a smaller, Trilogy box set on regular DVD for those who don’t have the dollars for this double (triple?) dip.
The Star Trek: Motion Picture Trilogy set includes Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek: IV The Voyage Home and it will be available on either Blu-ray or DVD. The films have been digitally remastered in high definition (The Wrath of Khan has been restored) with new 7.1 Dolby TrueHD …read more
