With all the Star Trek hype in the air, it’s easy to forget that a second huge scifi franchise movie will be coming out in a few weeks. It’s Terminator Salvation and it bows on May 21. In the meantime, Apple.com has just put up a four minute trailer to remind you that there’s much more to come.

Shock Til You Drop is reporting that Thomas Dekker is in final talks to join the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot. Dekker is best known for his role as John Connor on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and he would be one of a growing number of TV stars taking on classic horror remakes (can you say Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles?). Personally, I love Thomas but I’d have to pass as Elm Street is just too scary for me!

Warner Brothers has released a big, new trailer for Terminator Salvation which hits theaters May 21.
Since the entire franchise is built around a time travel loop, it’s hard to say if this is a prequel, sequel or parallel pic! What I can tell you is that it’s huge. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Helena Bonham Carter is in talks to play the lead villain in Terminator Salvation. The actress is no stranger to either villainous roles or sci-fi. She played Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and simian scientist Ari in Tim Burton’s reimagining of Planet of the Apes.

                                                Terminator Salvation:The Future Begins is now underway and director McG, on the movie’s official blog, said he will stay faithful to the franchise. And by faithful to the franchise, he means hero John Connor will catch a good butt-kicking. Figuratively, at least.
McG (I have a hard time even typing that name with a straight face) said Connor will be “pushed to the brink” in this one. Salvation is set in 2018, after Skynet and its machines have taken over. So I guess that means Sarah Connor, Cameron and John aren’t able to prevent it on their TV show.
