As my colleague Cynthia previously reported, the network has announced 36 movies for its Saturday and Sunday slots, including Lake Placid 3.
Oh, they had to do it because their highest rated movie last year was Lake Placid 2. I am not even kidding.
Oh, they had to do it because their highest rated movie last year was Lake Placid 2. I am not even kidding. What kind of a nightmare world do we live in where Lake Freakin’ Placid has become a trilogy? Seriously, that’s like the straight-to-DVD sequels you see at Blockbuster and just laugh because you didn’t know they existed. Ooh look! From Dusk Til Dawn 12!

Quality over quantity, Sci Fi Channel. How cool would it be if instead of 36 movies we’ll watch if nothing is on HBO at the same time*, the channel did 6-10 really good movies. Say, that much talked about Angel movie? A Dresden Files flick? I’m just spitballin’ here, throwing out some ideas. You know how to reach me, Sci Fi.

*That doesn’t apply to good stuff like Tin Man. And I think we all know the difference between Tin Man and Lake Placid 3.

There’s nothing like a Yellow Carpet event in Hollywood to bring out the stars. What, you were expecting some other color? Not when it’s the premiere of SCI FI Channel’s new mini Tin Man.

Zooey Deschanel, Kathleen Robertson and all of the O.Z. gang were on hand to celebrate at this Hollywood gala and they had good reason (but they didn’t know it at the time). According to the great and powerful Wizard, Tin Man was tops in the ratings last night, breaking records set by the SCI FI Channel series Taken.

The big question is can they repeat tonight?

While I found the show to be intriguing at first, it was a little too drawn out for my liking. And what’s with the “The O.Z” and “DG”, this isn’t The Wizard in the Hood. I did like some of the clever twists on the old tale for example, the “tin” man being a reference to a police man, and the line “come on Tin Man, have a heart” had me smirking for a good ten minutes after. I’m not sure how I feel about the idea that DG isn’t just a normal girl from Kansas who was caught up in a storm. Have to wait and see how it all comes out, I guess.

I must say that Alan Cumming is rocking it as he always does. I love his version of the Scarecrow and he was the main reason I stayed tuned to the end.

What did you think of Tin Man and will you be tuning in for part two tonight?
