Sci Fi’s Top 5 Pop Culture Quotes

Though they were born in the sci fi niche, these five quotes have soared into the annals of pop culture history. They’ve been repeated, parodied and I’ll bet at least one of them was used to sell something on TV.
Here are my candidates for the top five scifi quotes to make it into the pop culture vernacular.
5. “The Truth is Out There”
Ever since Mulder and Scully gave us a glimpse into The X-Files, we’ve been determined to find the real truth about aliens, Bigfoot, Elvis and Lady Gaga. That single phrase has inspired millions to look beyond what is presented …read more

X-Files Fans Don’t Believe at Box Office

X-Files Fans Don’t Believe at Box Office

This past weekend’s big sci-fi release -  wasn’t so big. While the truth may still be out there, not a lot of moviegoers were interested in finding it. The X-Files: I Want to Believe bowed in fourth place with only $10.2 million. It garnered mixed reviews and Fox execs are still trying to put a positive spin on things and say it will turn a profit. But considering it got trounced by the likes of Step Brothers and Mamma Mia, that’s not very likely.

X-Files Film Has Official Title

X-Files Film Has Official Title

The second X-Files movie now has a title. Variety says it will be called X-Files: I Want to Believe.
Apparently six years have elapsed since the end of the series and the film sequel, slated to hit theaters July 25.
Show creator Chris Carter is keeping pretty tight-lipped about the movie’s plot but has said it would stand on its own as a story. Carter told SCI FI.com’s Sci Fi Wire that he wants to “scare the pants off you” like a really good episode of the show.
Since he said “really good” I’m assuming that means no appearances by Robert Patrick …read more

Jericho Could Follow Serenity’s Lead

Jericho Could Follow Serenity’s Lead

With a small but intensely loyal fanbase out there, there is some talk that the dearly departed CBS drama Jericho could return as a movie. The short-lived Joss Whedon sci-fi western Firefly came back as a movie that was critically acclaimed but didn’t make tons of money.
But executive producer Carol Barbee told Sci Fi Wire she’s open to the possibilities.
“There’s definitely an Internet series to be had, and we always talked about a graphic novel, and … a movie,” Barbee said. “I mean, there are lots of things that I could easily see as a way to continue …read more

X-Files Movie Wraps

X-Files Movie Wraps

There aren’t many movies that hold a press conference just to say, “that’s a wrap!” But then The X-Files have always done things a little differently.
Chris Carter and David Duchovny (Gillian Anderson canceled due to illness) were on hand on Thursday to field questions from the press about the film and though the truth may be out there, you weren’t going to hear it from either one of these guys.
Carter seemed rather amused by the attention the film got while in production but he stuck to his guns about keeping the plot a secret.  “To tell you …read more

Amanda Peet On the Set of X-Files Movie

Terminator over on the Celebutopia forum posted some great behind the scenes photos of Amanda Peet on the set of the new X-Files movie. Take a look!
The Vancouver Sun added a few more details to the project stating Peet signed on along with Rapper Xzibit and Scottish comic Billy Connolly. Though Fox is keeping the plot ultra-hush-hush, sources say that Xzibit and Peet will be playing FBI agents as well.
The movie began principal photography on December 10th, apparently unhampered by the current writers’ strike.

Fox Sets Date for X-Files Return

Fox Sets Date for X-Files Return

That’s Fox the studio, not Fox the person, but he’ll be there too in July of 2008. According to Variety, the X-Files movie is now a go and will begin shooting in Vancouver this December.
Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will be back playing Mulder and Scully, and Chris Carter will be at the helm. Other than that, the studio is keeping hush-hush about the plot, saying only that it is a totally stand alone story and a “supernatural” thriller. Supernatural? Does that mean the duo will be hunting ghosts instead of aliens?
Can Scully and Mulder be returned …read more
